
Above all she was there for her children throughout their many 4-H projects, playing cards, checkers, fox & geese, sliding, roller skating, and playing softball. She delivered to her community through Meals on Wheels for many years, too. Ruth was a member of Sheldon Homemakers, a 4-H leader, as well as belonging to Black Hammer Lutheran Church and Cross of Christ Lutheran Church she was involved in the various circles and aids at both churches. To travel as she saw both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and much more. She enjoyed music whether it was singing, playing piano, or dancing. Ruth enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, and making quilts. She enjoyed working alongside Albert milking cows and raising tobacco. Ruth was Albert's right hand and especially enjoyed driving the tractor. Ruth and Albert moved to a farm on Twin Ridge in Houston, MN, following the end of the War. Ruth worked for Rohr Aircraft in La Jolla, CA, while Albert was stationed in San Diego. Albert Sanford Sherry in Chicago on Decemthey lived in Charleston, SC, and San Diego, CA, during World War II. After graduation, Ruth traveled to Chicago and worked at the Norwegian American Hospital as well as the Mars Candy Company. Ruth was baptized and confirmed at Decorah and Hauge Lutheran Church she attended rural Knoeke school and graduated from Decorah High School in 1942. She was granddaughter to the first child of European descent born in Canoe Township. Ruth was born on Jin Winneshiek County, Decora, IA, the daughter of Knut and Clara (Selness) Iverson.

Ruth Luverne Sherry, age 98, passed away on Tuesday, March 29 at the Gundersen Tweeten Care Center in Spring Grove. Hubert was preceded in death by his son, Peter Hunzeker, first wife Gloria D. Hubert is survived by daughters, Mary Hunzeker, Lisa (Henry) Wiens and Electra Rich son, James (Darla) Hunzeker grandchildren Jessica (Christopher) Strinmoen, Travis (Stefanie) Hunzeker, Tyler (Ashley) Hunzeker, Kyle (Ali) Hunzeker, Lora (Cathy) Wiens, Stephanie Wiens Noyes, Joanna (Gavin) Deming, Carolyn (Jonathan) Kuhfuss and Jude Rich step-daughter, Judy Kerska, step-grandsons, Eric (Tina) Kerska and Marc (Elizabeth) Kerska, numerous great grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Hubert was also a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. He was an active member of La Crescent United Methodist Church and continued to teach - not about math - but his deep faith in Jesus Christ and love for the Scriptures. When he retired, he and his family moved to Onalaska, Wisconsin. Head at the University of Omaha and later at Michigan Technological University. He went on to teach, earning multiple college degrees culminating in a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Michigan in 1960. Hubert’s distinguished life included serving as a US Navy officer on an attack transport in both the Atlantic and Pacific during WWII. He was born in Peru, Nebraska on November 12th, 1920 to Clyde and Lily (Branek) Hunzeker.
